Ballymastocker Bay aka Portsalon Beach is a truly spectacular Blue Flag beach located on the Fanad Peninsula in north county Donegal. It was once voted the 2nd most beautiful in the World by readers of The Observer Magazine.
It is located on the western shores of Lough Swilly between Rathmullan and Fanad Head and has fabulous views of the Inishowen Peninsula. The best views can be best seen from the viewpoint above the Knockalla coast drive.
The bay has some moorings and an anchorage; there are no fees for anchoring or berthing, and dinghies can also land here. The bay is protected by rugged cliffs, offering shelter from the worst westerly winds, but the easterly winds blowing in over the Lough can occasionally be fierce.
